Release Notes

Microsoft Azure deployment of DNN Platform by using the new Azure File Service (Preview). Enables the creation of new DNN Platform host instances from on-premise to the cloud using a wizard that guides you on this process, creating the SQL Azure database, uploading the solution engine and associated service configurations.

IMPORTANT: The Azure File Service (Preview) is only enabled on new storage accounts. At this moment, you cannot use Azure storage accounts that were created before May 12th 2014, since this feature is only enabled on accounts created after that date. Microsoft says that the File service will be enabled in old storage accounts once the File service goes GA.

Release notes

  • Finally got FileService working: no drive mounts, no symbolic links, just direct publish from the network share
  • Added background wallpaper with BGInfo for RDP users
  • Added a shortcut in the desktop for RDP users targeting the DNN website root. FileShare credentials already added to the RDP user vault so no need to introduce them
  • Pinned the IIS Management console to the task bar for RDP users
  • Disabled IE ESC for admin users
  • Unlocked the system.webServer/serverRuntime to allow setup IIS compression
  • Optionally enable the internal SMTP service
  • Allow to setup WPI products as background tasks, lowering the deployment time (WPI product installation continue in background while the site is up and running)
  • Added PowerShell script to create IIS log folders
  • Fix to transfer the IIS log files to Azure storage per diagnostics configuration
  • Added support for External Event Tasks (OnSiteReady, OnStart, OnStop)
  • Added a third CA in the certificates section (support for up to 3 levels in the certification chain)
  • Fixed: The DNN package file is now downloaded to a larger folder. It was using the system temp folder, which only have 100Mb by default). Now, it uses the WebPITemp folder (LocalStorage)
  • Added some fixes in the wizard to change the VHD resources for the new share
